It's not nearly as hard as you think. So we're going to take a nice, big piece of ginger. I'm not even going to use all of it, just half of it and cut it up in sort of quarter size pieces. Just what's easier to process. Even though I'm going to show you how to make ginger syrup, you can make simple syrups from almost any flavor, any fruit, vegetable, herb. All you're really doing is taking your normal simple syrup, sugar and water, and adding whatever flavor you want. Sometimes, you can just heat up the simple syrup and add the ingredient, like mint simple syrup. You just steep the mint. Sometimes, something denser like ginger, we're going to have to simmer and boil it first to really get that really spicy ginger flavor in there. Making fresh syrups like this and flavored syrups is one of the best ways to add variety to your cocktails. If you want to make, say, a ginger daiquiri or something, you just replace the ginger syrup with simple syrup and that's it. So now we have sliced ginger. We're going to add this to the food processor. I didn't peel this ginger. You can; it gives it a little cleaner feeling, but I don't mind the robustness of the peel. I also think that peeling is a tedious step. It's optional either way. It will make a good product. Now we just coarsely chop this. Great sound. I've got to get the last pieces. There we go. Mm, delicious. All right. So I've got my measuring cup and the pot that I'm going to put this over the stove with. So I like to do about one part ginger to one and a half parts water. Let's get all of that in there, and, again, it's always a good idea to have your rag on hand because any time we're in the kitchen or making stuff with cocktails, a mess is probable. All right. Let's see. What have we got? Okay. So that's about one and a half cups of ginger, so one and a half parts of that is going to be two and a quarter cups. Math is also a skill you might want to have when making cocktails. Simple math, not like pre-calc or anything, which is when I just went off the rails. I was good up until pre-calc, and then never again. So you kind of eyeball this, I mean, about two and a quarter cups of water. Now what we're going to do is we're going to simmer this. We're going to bring it to a boil and simmer it for about 30 minutes so that the liquid reduces and really soaks up that ginger flavor. So now that I've simmered my ginger for about 30 minutes or so and reduced it, I'm going to strain out all of that ginger. We've got the strainer here, and it's always good to have a trash can handy so that you can do this. Now we're just going to make regular simple syrup with this. Pretend that this is your water, in this case, your ginger water, and we're going to do one part ginger to one part sugar. That's a cup, so I'm going to add one cup of sugar. And again, you can eyeball this. That's just about two cups, a little under, but I think it'll be plenty sweet. And since you just took it off the stove, it should be good and hot. Make sure you use glass, of course, with this, but It will dissolve right into the sugar, and you will be done. That is how you make ginger syrup.

Enjoy!! --------------------------------- Ingredients: * 4 cups of prepared watermelon rinds. * 1- 2 cups of sugar - depending on your liking, I've used 1 1/4 cups. **For flavoring use either: - Juice from 1/2 lime and zest. or - Dash of vanilla. - 4 whole cloves. - Cinnamon stick. Directions: 1- To prepare the rinds, first trim the green part. Beets are low in calories, nutrient dense and loaded with antioxidants. They contain vitamins A,B & C, Folate, Calcium, Potassium, Magnesium and oodles of iron! Additionally, Beets contain betaine which helps to lower homocysteine levels in the body (elevated homocysteine levels can lead to heart disease, stroke and/or arterial plaque). Incorporating Beets into your diet on a regular basis will bring a gorgeous luster to the skin, improve digestion, protect the body against free radical damage, cleanse the liver AND purify & build the blood. Show your Body some LOVE and enjoy My LOVE SOUP xoxo CASHEW GARLIC/DILL SOUR CREAM: 1 C cashews, soaked for 2-4 hours, rinsed and drained juice from 1/2 lemon 1/2 Tbsp unpasteurized chick pea miso (I like South River brand) 2 cloves fresh garlic 1/4 C fresh dill, finely minced (reserve) 1 C filtered water 2 tsp ACV (raw apple cider vinegar - BRAGGS is a good brand) pinch of Pink Himalayan Salt Put all ingredients (except for the dill) into a high speed blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Fold in the dill (reserve a little bit for garnish), pour into a bowl and set aside for flavors to develop while making the Beet Borscht. BEET BORSCHT: 2 medium/large size beets, peeled and quartered (reserve half of one beet and finely dice for garnish) 2 medium carrots, chopped 1 large roma tomato, quartered 1 apple, cored, peeled and quartered juice from 1/2 lemon 1 large shallot, quartered 1/2 - 1 jalapeño, quartered (remove seeds and membrane to reduce heat) 1 C filtered water 1 tsp Himalayan Pink Salt Put all ingredients (except finely diced beets for garnish) into a high speed blender and blend until very smooth, adding in more water if a thinner soup is preferred. This salad tastes as wonderful as it looks, the soft tofu, the fleshy basil, the ice-cold texture of the tomatoes, the spiking-tastes of the onions and pepper. In the future, I want to try mixing stevia and other aromatic flavors with the basil, tomatoes, onions, and spices. Another salad deserving the english word, "confection." I am now growing a hydroponic row of stevia for the experiments. Garden-grown vegetables trade time for expense. Market vegetables are expensive. Garden vegetables require time to plant, water, and weed. And garden tomatoes, cucumbers, and squash require time to tie the vines to vertical trellises. However, calculate the expense of time to grow the vegetables against the time required to go to a super-market. I can walk to the garden in a minute, cut a salad in less than three minutes. Going to a quality supermarket can take an hour --- not including the time required to work to earn a paycheck to pay for the vegetables, the automobile, insurance, gasoline, traffic hazards. You are highly advised not to eat while reading this. Vegetarians are not encouraged to read any further. Thailand offers many exotic attractions – from beaches, to women, and dishes. Here’s a look at the myriad of exotic eats you could try while in Thailand: Leaping from the rice paddies to your rice plates In Pattaya,Bangkok‘s red-light district, peddlers fill small plastic bags with the crispy critters of your craving. While you can spot these exotic foods in many areas in Bangkok, another popular location is Khao San Road or the backpacker’s barrio due to the influx of foreigners. Crickets, black scorpion, grasshopper, water bug, and maggots are among the varieties of insects fried and seasoned with salt, pepper or chilli and sold in bug carts. In the northeastern Ubon province of Thailand, near the Cambodian border, the New York Times once wrote that the impoverished locals will fry up anything on six legs in pursuit of inexpensive sources of dietary protein. That includes ants, scorpions, silkworms, crickets and their larvae. The crickets that are yet to be grilled or deep-fried lie in semiconscious states on banana leaves or bowls. The wriggling of the creatures is a good sign suggesting it’s fresh from last night’s catch and that no pesticides were used in the capture. 1. Once You Pop These Hoppers, You Can’t Stop Closely related to crickets are the grasshoppers. Much like their kin, grasshoppers are typically deep fried in oil and then seasoned in chili powder. Fried to a crisp, the grasshopper’s crunchy skin cracks and pops in your teeth (hmmm, popcorn, is it?). The Thais also have a version of sautéed grasshoppers. One suggested that you don’t eat the legs (Why? Why not?). 2. Care for a Cup of McBugs? Tired of Fried? Allow me to mention the other ways a bug is cooked – raw (chopped and added to chili-based sauces and salads) and steamed (in a banana leaf with curry sauce). In Isan, Thailand, villagers harvest many varieties of bugs. Big, black water beetles are regarded as a special delicacy. The legs get stuck between your teeth, though (Toothpick, anyone?). 3. Crawling into Your Cuisine…. the Arachnids In Ubon, Thailand, there’s a scorpion-based Viagra substitute for men. Tarantula tasters say it tastes like scrawny chicken wings coated in especially sweet plum sauce - with hairs on. They also say that pulling the legs off without squeezing the pus out of the abdomen can be tricky (Should I be worried with the pus or the hair?). Some gourmets say the abdomen is the sweetest part, with the texture of a soft goat’s eyeball and tasting just like cold duck. 4. Bats Fly from Trees to Tables In Baan Toom, bats are roasted over charcoal fires or minced into a traditional Thai dish. Locals can bag as many as 200 squealing and struggling bats in a single day. Bats are first soaked in boiling water. Ants in the Pants and the Pans Ant eggs are a delicacy in Thailand, especially in the northern and eastern parts of the country. These are the big ants that grow on trees. Ants are an alternative protein source. They can be prepared in many ways – in soups and stir-fries. They contribute more of a tangy flavor than any real nutritional value. Kai Mot Daeng or red ant eggs may appear like white beans but look closely, taste it and you’ll know the difference. Ant eggs are served in salads, soups or fried with eggs. Jeffrey Steingarten, author of “The Man Who Ate Everything,” lived by the saying “Try everything once because if you don’t try it, you won’t know if you like it.” Let’s face it though, not everyone has an appetite for it. It takes a wild adventurous streak, not to mention cultural, religious and economic considerations, to turn those tree, garden, sink, and rice paddy creatures into a stomach-churning buffet. But for those who seek gastronomic adventure, skip the steak and head on to Thailand and see how locals spice up their life with variety.

1. Soda Stop drinking soda — especially diet drinks, period. You may get a temporary caffeine boost, but you will feel totally unmotivated soon after when the buzz quickly subsides. Every person who rationalizes that diet soda is healthier is sadly mistaken. Studies have shown that diet sodas cause weight gain and increase the incidence of metabolic syndrome, which contributes to coronary heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes. Instead of soda, just drink water. If you really don't love water, add some lemon or try sparkling water, which comes in many flavors. 2. Burgers and Hotdogs Stay away from the burgers and hotdogs served at sporting events and dining halls. Not only are they composed of low-grade meats with higher chemical content, but they also lead to high rates of inflammation, which can make your hormones go out of whack. Instead, opt for organic, free-range meats. Not only do they taste better, but they also contain substantially lower amounts of harmful chemicals. 3. French Fries Sure, they taste awesome, but they're totally addicting; one handful can easily become two or three in a blink. If you want to gain weight, feel sluggish, bloated and have a low libido, go for it. Fried foods are loaded with trans fats, which will kill your sex drive. Furthermore, trans fats have been shown to lower sperm quality, which could lead to infertility. A good alternative is sweet potatoes fries. They, while still fried, offer many health benefits, like the breakdown of carbohydrates, which supports healthy blood sugar levels. 4. Mixed Drinks Drinking straight alcohol can suck. Unfortunately, most of us who chase or use mixed drinks opt for the sugary ones. So instead of the jungle juice, try tequila, soda and lime. Sugary mixed drinks lead to an increased waist size and will totally kill your libido. 5. Ice Cream Ice cream is delicious — there's no better way to cap off your dinner than with a scoop and some sprinkles. But obviously, ice cream is pretty bad for you. It is loaded with sugars and artificial sweeteners, leads to fatigue, migraines and, sometimes, even depression. A much better alternative is fruit, but if you're not interested in totally giving up that dairy dessert, try some frozen yogurt instead. 6. Pasta It's very easy to overdose on pasta. The nutritionally recommended one-cup serving is never enough. Once you load up on pasta, your body converts it into glucose, and unless you're active, it will be stored as fat. This can contribute to fatigue and bloating. Add a side salad or grilled veggies to offset your pasta load. With some tomato sauce and your favorite meat, you won't taste the difference. 7. Vending Machine Snacks You may feel decent after eating a Snickers, but all it's doing is spiking your blood sugar for a little bit until you're soon hungrier than before. Instead of vending machine snacks, try raw nuts, raw vegetables or dark chocolate (75% or higher). Studies show that nuts and chocolate have libido-boosting characteristics, making them nature's aphrodisiac. Nuts, such as raw almonds, are prime sources of essential fatty acids. These are vital for men in producing hormones. 8. Breakfast Biscuits They're greasy, full of trans fats, and will certainly not leave you feeling amazing. Biscuits are a notoriously processed food, loaded with chemicals that will mess with hormones. The beauty of breakfast is the abundance of alternatives; go for an omelet, load it up with veggies and maybe even a protein. To take control of what you're eating, the next time you eat out for breakfast, ask your server to hold the margarine and vegetable oil for your biscuit, and instead, have it cooked in olive oil or butter. 9. Game Day Food While it seems that nothing's better than a cold beer with a few nachos or wings, you're likely to regret this decision later. Nachos are loaded with carbohydrates and nacho cheese is hardly cheese at all. Instead of nachos, try some fresh veggies, dip, salsa and homemade guacamole. Wings are no better — go for the grilled wings instead. 10. Low fat diet Fat has gotten a pretty bad reputation over the years, however, numerous studies have shown that it isn't the fat that makes you fat — it's the sugar. According to one study, a lower-fat diet contributes to a decrease in testosterone. . Mikhoo improvised this salad from a traditional Thai recipes and the fruit and vegetables grown in New York state, as she does with the produce from our California gardens. People eat kumquat fruit whole. The skin of this citrus fruit is sweet, the flesh sour. In this weight-loss salad, the contrast of flavors also plays with the flavor of the honey and the sharp tastes of the lime and red pepper. I eat this without salt -- salt contributes to high-blood pressure. Though honey is a healthy sweetener, I am already growing stevia to add to this salad / desert. If sugar is added to this confection, the sugar will contribute to diabetes. This salad offers low-calorie nutrition and exotic flavor. Perhaps overweight Americans will accept tofu as a diet food if they think are eating an exotic Asian recipe, modified with high-protein tofu, exotic kumquat, and stevia. ( And I ask Mikhoo to mix olive oil in the salad. Olives are actually fruit. Therefore, the oil is actually a fruit juice. The fat of olive oil is believed to replace the animal grease built up in human arteries and veins with positive fats. The grease so common in American diets builds up in the vascular system and contributes to obesity, heart disease, premature aging, impotence in males, and general ugliness. The use of transfat in fast food fry vats and common snack foods continues --- and eating healthy oils sometimes cannot negate the effects of the synthetic molecules in transfats. In this video we will see how to make Meen Kuzhambu in tamil. Meen Kulambu is a favorite smell to all seafood lovers. This fish curry releases a wonderful aroma that will excite and invite all your neighbors. This meen kuzhambu is made in the traditional method aka Gramathu Meen Kulambu. Traditionally meen kulambu is made in a mud vessels and many claim that making the fish curry in a mud pot will enhance the flavor of the fish. Hence I am using the mud vessel for the Village style fish curry however if you don't have a mud pot you can use another vessels. Perhaps the tofu and spinach buffer the excess acid in the stomach of the fellow -- who knows? --- but this salad offered both low-calorie nutrition and exotic flavor without the consequences of heartburn and other symptoms. This salad offers low-calorie nutrition and exotic flavor. Perhaps Americans attempting to diet wii stay on their weight-loss programs if they think are eating exotic Asian recipes. ( The fellow with the acid reflux may be suffering a consequence of his meat diet. Animal grease will cause indigestion. Animal grease also becomes cholesterol in the human system. To replace grease in the diet, try olive oil. ( Olive oil can be added to this salad -- and used for cooking.
